Accessibility Statement
Dysautonomia School™, a program of Elevate Care Institute, LLC, is committed to making this website usable and accessible to as many people as possible, including the clinicians, patients, and caregivers who make up our community.
We take this seriously not only because it's good practice, but because it reflects the population we serve. Many people affected by dysautonomia, POTS, and hypermobility spectrum disorders live with light sensitivity, visual motion sensitivity, cognitive fog, and fatigue. We've designed this site with those realities in mind, not as an afterthought.
Our Aprroach
We aim to meet or exceed Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. Ongoing efforts include:
-
Low-glare, muted color palette. Our visual identity intentionally avoids high-contrast, high-glare color combinations that can trigger discomfort for people with photosensitivity or migraine.
-
Readable typography. Font choices and sizing prioritize legibility for users experiencing visual strain or cognitive fatigue.
-
Reduced motion. We minimize unnecessary animation and honor browser/OS "reduced motion" settings where possible, given how common vestibular sensitivity is in our audience.
-
Keyboard navigation. Pages and interactive tools are designed to be operable without a mouse.
-
Screen reader compatibility. We use semantic HTML, descriptive alt text for images, and proper heading structure so content is understandable through assistive technology.
-
Clear, plain language. Content is written to be understood without requiring extended concentration, recognizing that brain fog is a common symptom among the patients our learners treat.
-
Captions and transcripts. Video-based course content includes captions and, where feasible, transcripts.
Course Platform Accessibility
Our learning management system is selected and configured with SCORM compliance and accessibility standards in mind. If you encounter a barrier while completing coursework, please let us know — we will work with you and our platform provider to find a solution.
Ongoing Work
Accessibility is not a one-time project. As we continue building out Dysautonomia School™, we periodically review new pages, tools, and course materials against these standards, and we update this statement as our site evolves.
